Will Trucking Pay The Price For The Fiscal Cliff?

I am not sure whether the fiscal cliff is political propaganda or is a real threat to the economy and the lifeblood of his economy, the trucking industry. I know both parties have been known to drag these out and the Federal government has gone unfunded for a few weeks.

That is political posturing that gets publicity. Letting the entire economy go down the toilet to prove their point is unacceptable. I have featured this topic on a couple of other blog posts which I will link here.

  1. I can tell you as a company driver for a major food manufacturer, we are as busy as ever. Through the USDA school lunch and food stamp programs, more Americans are eating off the taxpayer than ever. The intended consequences of the 'fiscal cliff' are higher taxes and reduced spending. When those two are combined, the US economy will falter and all for hire trucking will suffer. Only subsistence transportation will stay busy. Food, fuel, essential products. Not a pretty picture.
